If you are planning a visit to the New Forest over the coming months, there is a timely reminder from the National Park Authority about the simple benefits of spending time outdoors. To mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2026, the authority launched its autumn wellbeing initiative, known as the ‘For-Rest’ campaign.

Running throughout the autumn season, the campaign invites everyone to take small steps to improve their health and mental wellbeing by getting outside. As the National Park Authority noted, spending time in natural surroundings offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, unwind and recharge.

Throughout the campaign, the authority is signposting various opportunities for visitors and residents to connect with nature and make the most of the outdoors. Autumn in the Forest is a particularly peaceful time for a stroll or quiet reflection, as the landscape changes pace for the cooler months ahead.

If you are visiting the area this season, you can find out more about the campaign and discover ideas for your own outdoor time on the New Forest National Park Authority website.
