New Forest Organisations and Businesses Focus on Recovery Following Picket Post Fire

Local organisations across the New Forest have joined forces to manage the long-term recovery of the landscapes, communities, and local trade following the wildfire near Picket Post earlier this month. The fire, which broke out alongside the A31 on 9 August, affected an area of heathland right at the height of the summer season.
As reported by the New Forest National Park Authority, New Forest District Council is leading the recovery effort on behalf of several partner organisations involved in the initial response. Together, they are working on practical, longer-term plans to help the impacted heathland habitats heal, whilst also supporting the surrounding communities and local traders.
The timing of the incident proved particularly challenging for nearby trade. According to the Advertiser & Times, Forest businesses are now striving to recover losses from what should have been peak summer trading. August is traditionally one of the busiest months of the year for visitors, making local support especially valuable as autumn approaches.
